Hi, I’m Jess.
I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW) who has spent over 20 years supporting children, young people and families with their emotional wellbeing across community, family support and therapeutic settings. I feel deeply passionate about helping children feel safe, understood and supported as they learn to navigate their feelings and experiences.
My therapeutic approach is warm, relational and developmentally informed, with a strong focus on creating a safe and supportive space where children feel comfortable to explore their inner world.
I work primarily with children and adolescents and understand that children often communicate their thoughts and feelings through play, movement and creativity rather than words alone. Because of this, I incorporate play-based and experiential approaches that allow children to express themselves in ways that feel natural to them.
I am currently training in Synergetic Play Therapy (SPT), a neuroscience-informed approach that supports children to regulate their nervous system, process emotions and build resilience through the therapeutic relationship.
My work is also informed by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness-based approaches, helping children develop emotional awareness, self-compassion and practical skills to navigate life’s challenges. Aswell as being a therapist, I am also a mum, which gives mea deeper appreciation of both the challenges and the joys that come with supporting children as they grow and develop.
